What is involved in doing IVs at home

Home IVs are a way to receive the intravenous treatment prescribed by your doctor without having to go to a hospital or clinic. Administering IVs at home is a safe and effective alternative to hospital care.

Types of home IVs

Through IVs we can administer medicines, blood derivatives, artificial nutrition products, glucose solutions ('serums') and electrolyte solutions (containing various minerals).

Perfusion comes in many forms:

  • IVs for the administration of medicines
  • IVs to hydrate and mineralize the body
  • IVs for protein supplementation
  • IVs for feeding, etc.

How such a service is carried out

1. The nurse will come to your home on the appointed day and time.
If the visit is for a loved one, you will be notified of the start of the visit in real time in the app.

2. Please show him the prescription and the medication needed for the IV.
We will ask you to buy everything in the recipe and have them ready.

3. The nurse will set up the IV and start administering it.
He will be with you throughout the IV, making sure everything goes smoothly.

4. At the end of the IV, the nurse will collect all the consumables (needles/sticks, cotton wool, etc.) and take them with her in special containers. You will also receive notification of the completion of the visit.
Your house will be as tidy as when you started your visit.

What is the price of a home IV

The price of an IV depends on the amount prescribed by your doctor.

Intravenous perfusion 250 ml - 150 lei
Intravenous perfusion 500 ml - 200 lei
Intravenous perfusion 1000 ml - 225 lei

The price includes only the labour to administer the IV. Please provide the solution and medication mentioned in the prescription from your doctor.

How to request home IV service in your city.

Mobile or web app | You can request home IVs quickly and easily by downloading The Care Hub app for free from the App Store (if you have an iPhone), Google Play (if you have an Android phone) or by going online. Once you sign up for an account, you'll be able to select the services, day and time you want and pay securely and we'll assign the right nurse and confirm the visit!

Booking form | You can also ask us for a quote using the booking form and we will get back to you with a confirmation within 48h and the payment details.

Telephone booking | For those of you who prefer the telephone, please call us on 0373 800 190 to give us your address and the day and time you require. As soon as we find the right nurse we will confirm and send you payment details.

Do I need a prescription for a home IV?

Yes, please make sure your doctor has written you a prescription. We will ask you to send us a copy by email or whatsapp before the visit starts and show it to the nurse during the visit.

Do I need to buy a syringe and needle?
    No, the nurse will bring the syringe and needle. She will also collect them when she leaves.

Do I need to buy the IV stand?
    No, the nurse will bring the IV stand.

Who travels for a home IV?
The Care Hub's partners are certified and experienced nurses, whom we would welcome into our home.
Because the safety of you and your loved ones is paramount, we interview each nurse (2 of our colleagues attend the interview), ask for and verify medical clearance, certificate of behavioral integrity, licensure and (if needed) references.
Many of our partners are recently retired or close to retirement age because we believe they have a wealth of life experience, great patience and respect for the people they care for, and a natural desire to care for others. But we also work with people of other ages who are looking for flexible work and are also kind, respectful and empathetic.

What should I check with my doctor?
    Intravenous administration of medicines is a fast and effective way to get medicines into your bloodstream. If your doctor has prescribed it for you, he or she will probably explain the purpose and process of treatment. But if you have any questions, don't forget to ask.
    Your questions may include:
    - How long will I have to take the intravenous treatment?
    - Am I at high risk of side effects?
    - Can I receive my intravenous medication at home? Can I do my own IVs?
