Injections at home

We administer injections at your home in a comfortable and familiar setting.

What it means to do an injection at home

Administering an injection is one of the most basic medical procedures, but it requires proper attention and a pair of well-trained and experienced hands. As simple as it may seem, we still can't give ourselves an injection and yet many of us find it difficult to go to the doctor for various reasons such as old age, accidents, poor health or lack of time.

Types of injections at home

  • Intravenous injection. The needle is inserted into the vein and the drug is administered directly into the bloodstream.
  • Intramuscular injection. The drug is administered deep into the muscle, which facilitates rapid absorption by blood vessels.
  • Subcutaneous injection. The drug is administered into the tissues between the skin and muscle.
  • Intradermal injection. The drug is administered directly into the dermis, which is the layer under the skin.
  • Deposit injection. Depot injections are usually solid or oil-based preparations that are gradually absorbed by the surrounding tissue.

How to perform an injection at home

1. The nurse will come to your home on the appointed day and time. If the visit is for a loved one, you will be notified of the start of the visit in real time in the app.

2. Please show him the prescription and the medication needed for the injection. We will ask you to buy everything on the prescription and have them ready. A prescription for a medicine includes the name of the medicine, the dose and the route of administration, i.e. the way the medicine is given, such as subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously. The nurse will explain what they are going to do and make sure you understand what is going on.

3. The nurse will administer the injection after washing her hands, taking disposable gloves and sterilizing the injection site.

4. After administering the injection, the nurse will apply an alcohol pad and gently massage the injection site, then collect all consumables (needles, cotton wool, etc.) and take them with her in special containers. You will also receive notification of the completion of the visit. Your home will be as tidy as when you started the visit.

The Care Hub's partners are certified and experienced nurses, whom we would welcome into our home.
Because the safety of you and your loved ones is paramount, we interview each nurse (2 of our colleagues attend the interview), ask for and verify medical clearance, certificate of behavioral integrity, licensure and (if needed) references.
Many of our partners are recently retired or close to retirement age because we believe they have a wealth of life experience, great patience and respect for the people they care for, and a natural desire to care for others. But we also work with people of other ages who are looking for flexible work and are also kind, respectful and empathetic.
If your doctor has prescribed injections, he or she will probably explain the purpose and process of treatment.

But if you have any questions, don't forget to ask.

    Your questions may include:
    - How long will I have to take the injectable treatment?
    - Am I at high risk of side effects?
    - Can I get the injections at home? Can I get the injections myself?
Yes, with great pleasure! We will assign a nurse who has experience with children.
